Gucci Women Cruise 09 Collection launched in Rome to celebrate the company’s 70th anniversary. Frida Giannini, Gucci’s creative director, created an extraordinary ambience of light, warmth and luxury with black and white backdrop painted with Italian street scene which made the models walked down on the runway as if they came across from the real street. This collection is part of the inauguration ofGucci’s 21st century design concept in combination with Gucci iconic elements and new era style.

This collection is boasting about the printed silk long dress. The strapless Nectar Wunder silk gown on the left is made of chiffon printed with stripe and exotic pattern. The brown dress embroidered with small flowers is Avana side drape gown. The prices are $10600 and $8300 respectively, as stunning as the dresses.

These two pieces are my favorite in Gucci Women Cruise 09 Collection -Baltic Wunder silk gown and Sky Azure Wunder silk gown. They are both made from light blue chiffon printed with black or dark blue ribbons and flora patterns. I especially appreciated the one on the right. The model in the picture presented the smoothness and softness of the dress in a perfect gesture. The golden Four-leaf clover on the chest is eye-catching and adds special ethical flavor of North Ireland. They are also tagged with astonishing price at $10450 and $7995. GUCCI LARGE HORSEBIT HOBO: JESSICA SIMPSON

I can’t help but be a celeb style follower. I love to see what they are wearing and what is in style according to Hollywood. My Newlywed friend, who I hate to love, can’t get enough of the Large Gucci Horsebit Hobo. Jessica Simpson is the girl that many look up to for style (let’s hope not smarts) who is never seen wearing anything but the trendiest and best bags. Now she even is as privileged to be wearing a different color every other day. The Large Horsebit Hobo is part of the Gucci Spring/Summer 2005 cruise line of handbags. On the website there is a variety of colors and fabric material offered, but the pink that Jessica has been sporting is no where to be found. The bag ranges from $980 to $25,000. Wait, wait… is that the right number of zeros? Umm yes. The Gucci Mahogany Crocodile Large Horsebit Hobo with light gold hardware can be yours for the price of a new car. The worst part is, there are actually real people who can afford that. Sigh. It is a large hobo style with horsebit detail strap and inside zip pocket. The large bag is about 18.8 x 4.8 x 15 inches, which is a pretty decent size, if you ask me. The black leather is about $1,290, which is still a hefty price to pay, but no where near $25,000.

FASHION WEEK FALL 2010: GUCCI HANDBAGS

Allow me to make one of my personal biases clear: I look forward to seeing the bags on the Gucci runway more than almost any other bag-including show at fashion week. The brand’s notorious sense for modern glamor and sexuality often comes through best in their runway bags, and seeing them is almost always a pleasure.

I wasn’t as excited by this season’s offerings as I was for last season’s technology-influenced collection, but they were still as luxurious and detailed as you could reasonably ask. Much of the collection, which was heavy on ostrich, was also sporting a slightly modified interlocking G logo that I’ve never seen before – could it be a vintage revival, as is popular with the brand, or something completely new? I’m not sure which, but whatever it is, I think its slightly curvier lines work well for the direction that the brand is going.

GUCCI SIGRID OVERSIZE CLUTCH

There was absolutely no part of me that looked at this clutch and thought Gucci. If you hadn’t seen the name of the bag, would Gucci be one of the first designers to pop into your mind?

I was overwhelmed with a sleek design, clean lines and complete structure with the Gucci Sigrid Oversize Clutch. I am not saying overwhelmed in a bad way, but perhaps more like taken by surprise.

In fact, as I analyzed this clutch, I went back through many of the Gucci bags that we’ve covered recently. It’s been months, and I mean months since we’ve covered a Gucci bag that is even the least bit structured. Ironically enough, the last structured bag was a clutch, the Gucci Crystal Evening Clutch.

Yet this one, this one is even sleeker. This evening bag comes in glossy white or black patent leather. I love the asymmetric flap closure with metal and enamel detailing. The asymmetry of the flap gives just a hint of a geometric feel without being too avant garde. This oversized clutch (15¼”W X 6¼”H X 1″D) would compliment so many outfits that I don’t even know where to start. And as you know, I love well known designer bags that aren’t splashed with their logos all over them. So, this clutch just keeps getting better and better. Buy through Saks for $595.

Gucci Galaxy Python Hobo

Every brand uses exotics in a different way. Nancy Gonzalez crocodile looks different thanBalenciaga crocodile. Chloe python looks different than Carlos Falchi python. And Guccipython is my favorite of all. Somehow, they manage to find skins that look somehow fuller and more touchable than some of their peers, and it’s always clear that their bags did indeed come from a living reptile. And I feel like it’s at least a bit more respectful to the animal to make a bag that really highlights the natural beauty of the skins that are used.

And Gucci has maintained their history of beautiful python bags with the Gucci Galazy Python Hobo. Sometimes natural patterns can be hidden when they’re done in black, but the finish here has a bit of a shine to it, so it reflects enough light that the scale differentiation is easy to see. Some brands treat their bags in such a way that the python scales lay perfectly flat, which has clearly not been done here. I’m sure that that sort of treatment makes bags for durable, but it also makes it feel less luxurious to me, so I’d rather that part was left out, even if it means the bag won’t last quite as long. I’d rather have it be as beautiful as possible for as long as that look will hold up.
