After months of waiting, finally Louis Vuitton design house has released its latest Spring Summer 2010 handbag collection. I am pretty disappointed to find that these new bags are not so new at all. Take this Louis Vuitton Alma MM for example; it is merely a reinvention of its classic bag pattern in another two colors. The Alma MM bag had been released in many colors before, but I am still attracted by the new version.

It is hard for me to resist the glamour giving out by the gentle rose florentin and the decent gris art deco. These two colors give much energy to this iconic Louis Vuitton Alma shape. Its sleek Monogram vernis leather and smooth rounded handles make this city bag a must-have accessory. As I see it, the Monogram vernis leather is more beautiful than the Monogram canvas.

This LV Alma MM is sized at 7.3" x 11.2" x 15.1", which is a rather modest dimension, but its curved shape allows for a larger interior capacity. The bag inside is made from soft textile lining, of which there are two interior flat pockets and one phone pocket. The bag features double zip made from golden brass for secure closing. It can either be carried by hand or at the elbow. It would be a good addition to your handbag set. It is priced at $2,010.00.  If you consider it is too pricy, you can buy a LV Alma MM in another color at a price of $239.

I know this came out last year, but I had to go back and look at it again, just to make sure it’s as hideous as I remember. This absurd “tribute” bag from Louis Vuitton makes me almost embarrassed to carry my pretty little LV Ellipse bag. I love my Ellipse because it is sturdy, has beautiful lines, and goes with almost everything I own. But really, this stupid Tribute bag is dumbing down the LV brand- ATTENTION LV executives!!!! THIS TRIBUTE BAG DUMBS DOWN YOUR BRAND!!! And I don’t buy that they were being adventurous or really pushing the envelope. It’s just ugly and stupid- there’s nothing subjective about it. It’s just ugly and stupid. I defy you to find someone who doesn’t think this is an atrocity. If I saw this bag at Off Saks 5th Avenue marked down to say, $20, I wouldn’t touch it except to turn it over again and again, wondering, “what sociopath executive thought this was a good idea?” I mean producing a designer bag isn’t like slapping together a peanut butter sandwich; it took meetings and discussions and spreadsheets and email; didn’t ANYONE at Louis Vuitton say, “uh, pardon, mais ce sac est merde!” (translation: “uh excuse me, but this bag is shit!”)
Not to keep harping on it, but if someone gave me this bag for free AND offered me $50 to carry it for a week,  I would not. No I wouldn’t. And Louis Vuitton possibly owes all of us an apology for this bag.

Soft Lady Dior North/South Large Shopping Tote

Here's a little – er, not really that little – Dior number. Another nice, neutral tone that goes with so many outfits. (But we love color, too, so we'll get back to some nice bright bags soon.) It's made of a soft lambskin leather that has cannage embroidery. Sets a nice pattern, doesn't it?

Dior’s Samourai 1947 bags have me torn. The lines are Frenchified-Japanese; meaning they’re really stunning. They’re not exquisite; a better word is bold. These are statement bags. I’ll tell you why I’m really torn about them. On the one hand (arm?) they’re complicated and design-intensive creations which make me appreciate the artistry. On the other hand, they are ludicrously impractical. I mean seriously, how long will the tortoiseshell detail on the handle stay intact? I get that it’s a limited edition bag and therefore will probably be well taken care of, but if you bought this and then snapped off the very delicate little tortoiseshell serpent detail on the handle, how pleased would you be? I don’t think you need help with the answer, but I’ll go ahead anyway… not very. At all. And at nearly $4000 each, it would be a shame. But, maybe you’re a person who laughs at such danger; maybe you’re someone who wants others to know that you laugh at such danger and more importantly, maybe you’re someone who has $3900 to help you make sure others know you laugh at this silly danger. Recently Louis Vuitton held an art exhibition named “A Passion for Creation” in Hong Kong. This exhibition exposed many artistic works created by artists from every corner of the world. Among them there are great world top-level artists such as Yang Fudong and Cao Fei as well as Takashi Murakami from Japan. There is a superb collection of beautiful thingsin the exhibition and the most attractive creation of Takashi Murakami. We can see the anime work Superflat First Love as well as several toy models he created for Louis Vuitton. These works are all weights works which you can never miss the opportunity to see. The Superflat First Love is the continuation of the animation movie Superflat Monogram designed by Takashi Murakami 6 years ago to commemorate the direct designer of Louis Vuitton Marc Jacobs. In the Superflat First Love there are three roles and the little girl has grown into a junior school students and she enjoyed the feeling of love at the first time. In the movie roles in the animation were used in Louis Vuitton products. This kind of top-level and fashionable “Childish” Design pattern added some refreshing sensation to the Louis Vuitton products. It also made the product more loved by young customers.
